Departmental Honors
Department of English
To graduate with departmental honors in English, a student must have a 3.75 GPA in the major, and a 3.5 GPA overall.
Eligible students do not have to apply for departmental honors. The office of Academic Advising will contact the English department with a list of eligible students prior to commencement that semester. Ms. Johnson, the department administrator, will contact all eligible students when their honors cords are available.
You will find out if you are eligible for Latin honors at your senior audit. If so, you will pick up those cords at the LAS check-in table at commencement.
All other cords or sashes from other entities (Sigma Tau Delta, National Honor Society, honors sororities or fraternities, military, etc.) are provided by those groups. Please contact the faculty representative for information about cords and sashes. Dr. Ginsberg (lginsber@uccs.edu) is the faculty mentor for Sigma Tau Delta.
