Scholarships for English Students
Evan J. Scott Endowed English Scholarship
The Evan J. Scott Endowed English Scholarship provides scholarship awards to College of Letters, Arts and Sciences students majoring in English with a focus on literature or secondary education.
Eligibility requires an Expected Family Contribution below 250% of Pell Grant eligibility and enrollment as a sophomore or higher. Preference is given to students from select Colorado school districts, and applicants are encouraged to reapply annually.
Julie Welsh Memorial Scholarship
The Julie Welsh Memorial Scholarship is a need-based award for UCCS English students who completed 12+ credits with a 3.0 GPA, specifically single parents with a strong academic record in English.
Submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid before March 1st is required for consideration. The scholarship provides financial aid for committed students balancing parenthood and academic pursuits.
Patricia Gray Endowment Scholarship
The Patricia Ann Gray Scholarship is a need-based scholarship aimed at supporting continuing UCCS English students who have completed at least nine credits of 2000-level or above English courses and have a 3.0 Cumulative GPA in those courses.
Ideal applicants are non-traditional students who have returned to college after a change in their life circumstances.
The scholarship will be awarded to as many as two students, with awards ranging from $300 to $1,400. To be eligible for consideration, students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid by March 1st.
