Attention UCCS English majors: you may be eligible for membership in Sigma Tau Delta, the national English Honors Society. There are many advantages to joining, including external recognition of your achievement in the field of English Studies and the opportunity to mention this achievement on your resumé or CV. In addition, the national organization offers scholarships, an undergraduate research journal, and sponsors an annual conference for members to present their work; these opportunities are available only to members. Eligibility:

  • Must have completed a minimum of two English courses at UCCS beyond first-year writing courses (that is, two additional ENGL courses not counting ENGL 1300, 1305, 1310, 1410, or TCID 2080, or TCID 2090);
  • Must have a GPA in English of 3.0 or higher
  • Must have an overall UCCS GPA of 3.0 or higher

Cost: a one-time payment of sixty dollars (forty-five dollars if you are receiving a Pell Grant) to the national organization of Sigma Tau Delta. Since no additional chapter dues are charged, members are responsible for buying their own graduation cords.

Please email Dr. Lesley Ginsberg (faculty sponsor for the Alpha Iota Iota Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta) using the format below:

  • Email Subject Line: Membership Request Sigmatd
  • Your name as it appears on your UCCS Degree Audit (DARS)
  • UCCS student ID number

Please email using your UCCS account; you may expect a reply to your UCCS email account within one week if emailed during the regular class session. Requests sent during official UCCS holidays, breaks, interim periods, and over the summer may take longer to receive a reply.

The faculty sponsor is required to review your eligibility for Sigma Tau Delta membership. 

To enjoy full member Sigma Tau Delta benefits, the national organization will need to have received your one-time of payment of sixty dollars (forty-five dollars if you are receiving a Pell Grant).
