Whether you aspire to become a writer, educator, or work in a corresponding field, the online English undergraduate program will provide you with the tools you need to succeed.
Focus of Study
English majors develop of a variety of skills throughout the program, including the following:
- Analyzing texts from a range of genres that represent various literary cultures, historical periods, and civic movements
- Reading written, visual, and digital texts closely and critically
- Composing writing that responds effectively to an array of rhetorical contexts, purposes, and audiences
- Conducting scholarly research
- Evaluating and synthesizing evidence
Program Requirements
The Online Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English requires the following:
- A minimum of 42 credit hours of ENGL coursework, depending on the chosen option
- At least 18 of those hours must be upper division (courses numbered 3000 or higher)
- A grade of C- or better in courses applied to the major
- A minimum 2.0 GPA must be maintained in all ENGL coursework
- No more than 60 credit hours of ENGL coursework may apply to the bachelor’s degree
- Submission of a Senior Assessment during the final semester of the senior year
