Focus of Study

Rhetoric and writing are the study of how we influence, persuade, and argue in and through language. This discipline and art will cultivate students’ critical thinking and written and oral communication skills, thereby preparing them to be thoughtful and active participants in civic life and to excel professionally in whatever career they pursue.

Program Requirements

The English Rhetoric and Writing minor requires a minimum of 21 credit hours of English course work, at least 9 of which must be upper-division (3000+ level). All courses must be completed with a grade of C- or better. A minimum 2.0 GPA must be maintained in all course work taken towards the minor.
